12 cyclists from Western Kentucky University began a journey of 3,600 miles in Seattle, Washington on Friday to raise fund and awareness for Alzheimer’s disease.
The cyclists are riding from Seattle to Virginia Beach, Virginia and will be crossing 10 states and 54 cities where they have organized events and gatherings along the way.
The ride is a tradition started in 2010 by Tyler Jury and five other Western Kentucky University students in memory of Jury’s grandfather, Barrett Cummings, who passed away from the disease. It has been held every two years and has raised almost $140,000 for research.
