June is Alzheimer’s & Brain Awareness Month. Representative Dan Newhouse (R-WA) joined Milbrandt Vineyards, Coeur Cause® Wines, and the Walk to End Alzheimer’s to help raise awareness on this major public health issue. More than 50 million people worldwide are living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
During the press conference and campaign launch in eastern Washington, residents were encouraged to “go purple” to help shed light on the estimated 6.2 million Americans age 65 and older living with Alzheimer’s. Coeur Cause® Wines and Milbrandt Vineyards took their commitment to the next level by releasing the Coeur Cause® Sparkling Riesling. Until the end of 2021, 10% from sales of this wine will go to the Walk to End Alzheimer’s® in Washington State as a direct donation to help raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. In fact, they are rolling out the red (or purple) carpet all month for this exciting partnership and wine.
Winery officials have a personal connection to the cause. Butch and Lisa Milbrandt lost Lisa’s mother to Alzheimer’s a few years ago. Stacy Bellew, owner of Coeur Cause Wines and long-time public relations director for the Milbrandts, is a caregiver for her mother who was diagnosed with dementia four years ago.
