You’ll most likely already be outside with your four-legged friend enjoying your weekend walk, so why not raise awareness and fight Alzheimer’s at the same time!?
Register for a W-A-L-K near you!
We have some great walks planned that you’ll love, and your dogs will too! But don’t take our word for it, hear it from some of our favorite, furry, four-legged, Alzheimer’s-fighting friends themselves!
We interviewed some su-PAW-stars to hear more about what inspires them to Walk to End Alzheimer’s! These pups gave us the inside scoop into the dog-support-dog world and even shared why they think other PAW-some dogs should join our fight to #ENDALZ!
Pippin

1. What’s your name?
Hi, I’m Pippin! (like from Lord of the Rings, not the basketball player)
2. What’s your breed?
I’m a Border Collie
3. What’s your favorite activity?
I LOVE fetch. Especially with a tennis ball. Or any other toy. As long as it’s a game of fetch!
4. Why do you walk to #ENDALZ?
My mom takes care of people that live with Alzheimer’s. I want to help find a cure so that my mom doesn’t have to work anymore, and we can play fetch ALL DAY instead of her going to work!
I also want all the other dogs to have more time with their owners, whether their owner needs treatment for the disease or they’re taking care of someone living with it. If we get rid of Alzheimer’s and dementia, think of how much time we would all have for playing fetch!
5. What’s your favorite part about the walk?
My favorite part about fetch? Oh wait, you said the walk… I LOVE walks!
I love going to the Walk to End Alzheimer’s because I get to play and walk outside with my mom and 12-year-old sister (also a border collie), whose favorite color is ironically PURPLE! It’s so fun getting to hang out with so many people and other dogs outside. Everyone is so full of joy and hope!
6. Why should other dogs join you in the Walk to End Alzheimer’s?
Because the more dogs and owners that join, the more awareness we can raise about fighting this disease our humans have to face. It’s our job as dogs to love and take care of our owners. If we can find a cure for Alzheimer’s, it would mean we get more time with our amazing humans to do fun things, like fetch!

Boris

1. What’s your name?
Boris
2. What’s your breed?
Pembroke Welsh Corgi
3. What’s your favorite activity?
I love lying on the couch, monitoring the neighborhood, and stealing snacks from my little human brother.
4. Why do you walk to #ENDALZ?
My mom makes me leave my favorite spot on the couch to go to the Walk to End Alzheimer’s. It’s okay, though, I love helping raise awareness and funds for those on their Alzheimer’s and dementia journey. So much so that I even RAN earlier this year in the Corgi Races at Emerald Downs to help raise awareness about the fight to #ENDALZ! You read that right, these little legs RAN!
There’s not much I’ll push these little legs too hard for, but the fight to end Alzheimer’s is one of those things!
5. What’s your favorite part about the walk?
I loved meeting all the other dogs and posing for Instagram photos in the flower garden!
6. Why should other dogs join the Walk to End Alzheimer’s?
It’s another great way to meet new dog friends and raise funds and awareness around the fight to #ENDALZ!

Pete

1. What’s your name?
I’m Pete – AKA Prancing Pete, Petey, and when I’m naughty, some names are not appropriate for the AlzWa Blog according to my human.
2. What’s your breed?
I’m a Goldendoodle (yes, Goldendoodles can be black)
3. What’s your favorite activity?
I can only pick one? Probably doing zoomies and wrestling with my buddies at doggy daycare. And everything else that earns me a treato.
4. Why do you walk to #ENDALZ?
My Grandpa had Alzheimer’s. So I walk to honor him. I also want the 120,000 people living with Alzheimer’s and the 300,000 family caregivers in Washington to know that they are not alone. The Alzheimer’s Association is available 24/7 to provide support to those living with and caring for those with the disease.
5. What’s your favorite part about the walk?
Snacks!!!!!!!! Lots of the exhibitors have cool stuff for us doggos.
6. Why should other dogs join the Walk to End Alzheimer’s?
See above. (Snacks!)

Darrel (the Doge)
2. What’s your breed?
All of them!
3. What’s your favorite activity?
Hockey, skateboarding, shredding paper and belly rubs
4. Why do you walk to #ENDALZ?
Anything to do with Walking is great, but getting the chance to walk AND spread awareness… paws down the best way to spend your morning.
5. What’s your favorite part about the walk?
Meeting people who share a common goal of finding a cure. (also the treats)
6. Why should other dogs join you in the WTEA?
Let’s be honest: you are already going for a walk, so why not spend your morning walking with other people and dogs who want to raise awareness and funds for a cure! There will also be treats, toys, and plenty of belly rubs to share!
